Check out these amazing results from EcoBlitz 2024, our biggest stewardship event of the year this past October!
Across 14 regional parks, 590 volunteers came together for 37 events, dedicating 1,479 hours to restoring and protecting our natural spaces. Their efforts resulted in:
• 4,900+ native trees & shrubs planted
• 4.5 tonnes of invasive plants removed
• New pond & wetland habitats created
Highlights from the season:
- Hedgerow planting at Delta Heritage Airpark (Boundary Bay Regional Park)
- Wildflower meadow care at Burnaby Lake Regional Park
- Pond & wetland creation at Campbell Valley Regional Park
- Riparian restoration at Crippen Lagoon in Crippen Regional Park
- Native plantings at Derby Reach, Kanaka Creek & Tynehead Regional Parks
- Understory restoration in Pacific Spirit Regional Park’s old-growth forest
These hands-on projects are restoring habitats and helping regional parks thrive! A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers, donors, and REEL Earth Day Challenge supporters for making EcoBlitz possible.
