Thanks to the REEL Earth Day Challenge, the Mishkoopitum summer camps (hosted by CTS Youth Society) continue to provide an empowering space for youth to connect with Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and the land.

Summer 2024 marked the third annual Mishkoopitum camps, a program initially funded in its first year by REEL Earth Day Challenge—and three years later, that support is still making these transformative experiences possible!

2024 Program Highlights:
• Expanded to three overnight camp locations: Tynehead, Pacific Spirit, and Capilano River Regional Parks.
• Hosted a staff-only training session to better support youth participants.
• Lorelei from 2MétisWomen led a pre-camp session, teaching staff traditional crafts to strengthen their knowledge and engagement.

The impact:
•72 youth registered, with 87 total attendees.
•40+ youth waitlisted, showing a strong demand for the program.
•Youth participated in reconciliation-focused programming, deepening cultural understanding and connection.

These camps create a safe and enriching space for youth to learn, share, and build lasting connections. We’re grateful for the continued support from our donors that makes Mishkoopitum possible!
